CableKnownProblems
This page is a place to post the CABLE problems that are reported by the CABLE users and have not been resolved

When running CABLE (serial version) on Mac OSX 10.7.X and OSX 10.9.X, inconsistent results may be produced in repetitive runs.

CABLE2.0 introduced the flag cable_user%CABLE_RUNTIME_COUPLED but this was not listed in the example cable.nml so it was easy to miss setting it. The flag is important because of differences in the counter 'ktau_gl' between atmosphere only and coupled model implementations and because ktau_gl is used to control some aspects of the soil moisture/snow initialisation. See #43 for more information. (30/01/14)

We are investigating a potential issue with the dry condition changes described in #24 when running with CASA-CNP including interactive LAI. The issue (low GPP/LAI) appears to be manifesting in the offline version but not in ACCESS runs. (30/01/14)

There are currently issues with compiling the CABLE library on the raijin home file system (which are system related). The solution is to checkout and compile on /short (29/8/14). This has been found to extend to other files on $HOME. A workaround should you experience this difficulty is to keep things on /short/$PROJECT/$USER and link to them from $HOME. Note, however that backups generally do not follow links. NCI is aware of the issue with $HOME and are working to resolve this.

In standardising an ACCESS1.3b UMUI job for raijin/accesdev, we noted several instances where dereferencing $CABLE_AUX was problematic (This could be related to above issue). However, $HOME can always be properly dereferenced. Therefore the standardised UMUI job for ACCESS1.3b (vaheA) assumes your installation of CABLE-AUX is in your home directory. (i.e. $CABLE_AUX = $HOME)
