Why this wiki (for SLV ADM2):

This layer was digitized from a drawing of El Salvador municipalities. This is the most frequently cited drawing and no other open source was available. However, the names of the municipalities are not included. That data was acquired through further research and checking against Google maps locations for the municipality center (shows up as a dot, no border). According to Wikipedia, El Salvador should have 262 municipalities. After digitizing, this layer yielded 272. The explanations and locations of the extraneous polygons are below, sorted by department, ADM1 designation of El Salvador.

The holes in the map are locations of lake where the municipality designation was unclear.
