DAX Studio is the premier tool for working with DAX queries against Microsoft Tabular models. The project was started in 2012 and has been constantly developed ever since. It allows users to connect to models running locally in Power Pivot, Power BI Desktop and SQL Server Developer Tools (SSDT) as well as remote models like SQL Server Analysis Services, AzureAS and Power BI Premium XMLA Endpoints.

It includes numerous features to make developing and optimizing DAX queries and expressions easier including:

  • An integrated drag and drop Query Builder
  • Autocomplete with function tooltips
  • Query Traces to show Server Timings and Query Plans
  • Query Benchmarking
  • View Metrics / Vertipaq Analyzer support for showing details about the memory usage of your models
  • and much more...

The development of DAX Studio is primarily driven by Darren Gosbell who is a long time BI professional based in Australia. By sponsoring this project you will help to cover some of the expenses incurred in running this project and will also allow additional time and resources to be devoted to the development of DAX Studio.
