BIRD

BIRD allows takes “engineering issues, translates those inputs into biologically relevant language, and completes a thorough literature search” (Friend 2019). The current type signature of BIRD is a user input of an engineering term or function and an output of biology terms used to query a biological ontology (the neo4j database and search engine). The query results are currently visualized in a textual format, similar to the way Google displays its search results. BIRD is currently the only user interface in PeTaL whose data visualization module is able to display the neo4j database and search engine results.
