Your Samsung TV or HT model number provides a lot of information about the TV or HT. the HT model numbers are less expressive than the TV model numbers, so this page focuses on the TV model numbers.

This page uses the author's Samsung TV as an example.

TV

On the serial number sticker on the back of the TV:

  • Type No.: UE40D5000 (9 digit)
  • Model: UE40D5000PW (11 digit)
  • Model Code: UE40D5000PWXZG (14 digit)

As you will see, this is a D-5xxx series TV.

HT

On the serial number sticker on the back of the HT:

  • Model No.: HT-D5500
  • Model Code: HT-D5500/EN

As can be seen, this is also a D-5xxx series, but it is a Home Theater, not a TV.

Type Number: first 9 characters

The type number decoding below focuses on the TV type number.

1st Character: Product ID
