Working on the Collection

Adding/Editing files

Anytime you want to add or edit your XML files, you'll do so in the Collection repository on your computer. Once done, save ("commit") your changes in GitHub Desktop and then upload ("push") your changes to your collection repository on the GitHub website.

Changing the Authority List

If you need to add an entry or make changes to the authority list, make these changes on your computer in your copy of the Authority repository. Again, save ("commit") your changes in GitHub Desktop and upload ("push") them to your repository on GitHub. Finally, propose these changes to the main SigiDoc/Authority repository by creating a "pull request". This is how your changes can be made available for all other collections and conflicts can be avoided. Regularly propose these changes - use your judgment on when is the right time to do so. Do keep in mind that if you don't propose your data to be merged, it won't be searchable!

Updating Authority Files

Changes that you and others request, will be merged into the shared SigiDoc/Authority repository. You need to regularly update your copy of the Authority repository with these changes. This process is known as "pulling" or "merging" from the main repository.

Customizing EFES

You can customize the appearance of EFES (such as adding your collection's logo or colors) in your copy of the EFES-SigiDoc repository. Remember to regularly update your copy of EFES with changes from the main SigiDoc/EFES-SigiDoc repository.
