MultiChat Installation

MultiChat works straight out of the box.

Simply drop the multichat.jar file in the plugins folder of your proxy and local servers.

Detailed installation guide

  1. Download the latest version of MultiChat from spigotmc.org

  2. Place the downloaded jar file in your Proxy plugins folder. This is the folder called plugins that is in the same directory as bungeecord.jar or waterfall.jar.

  3. Place the downloaded jar file in your Spigot, Bukkit, Paper or Sponge plugins folders. This is the folder called plugins in the same directory as spigot.jar, craftbukkit.jar, spongeforge.jar, spongevanilla.jar or paperclip.jar depending on what software you use. (Installing MultiChat on your individual local servers allows the plugin to fetch information such as prefixes, nicknames etc. It also allows MultiChat to execute commands triggered by chat rules or anti-spam activating.)

  4. In order for MultiChat to fetch prefixes from your permissions plugin such as LuckPerms, PEX or GroupManager, you need to make sure you have Vault installed. (If you use Sponge, this step is not required)

  5. Make sure that IP-forwarding is turned on for your proxy server and all your linked Spigot / Sponge servers.

  6. Start your Bungeecord/Waterfall server and any Spigot/Bukkit/Paper/Sponge servers that you placed the JAR into. (DO NOT USE /RELOAD OR /GRELOAD)

  7. If you are using a Sponge server on a network which also contains Minecraft v1.16+ servers then you will need to list the Sponge servers as "legacy servers" in the config.yml file. This allows for translations of the 1.16 RGB colour codes to a format which Sponge will understand. If you do not list the sponge servers in the legacy section of the config file then you may experience crashses.

  8. You're done! MultiChat is now installed on your servers and it is time to start configuring it...
