Islandora Camp updates
- iCampCT
- Conference attendance down compared to hoped, but budget in the black
- Schedule is solid, Hylandora day is now free and unconference (still recruiting)
- Next camp: Florida in March
- Next conference: two years away, location TBD
- Licenses for 7.x-2.x related things. Discussion here and here (Nick)
- GPLv2 or GPLv3 candidates: GPLv3 has hangups on patent language
- No legal counsel yet; but Nick has excellent resources via Evergreen and Software Freedom Law Center / Software Conservancy
- Board meeting in late November should set direction: no license may be accepted on this project until the Board reaches an opinion
- Further discussion illuminated the depth and murkiness of this issue
- Can this remain unlicensed or do we need to apply some sort of license? CLA may not require consensus on any license change?
- Resolution: Leave unlicensed for now until a more authoritative opinion is achieved. Reaching such a consensus has a reasonably high degree of urgency.
- 7.x-1.7 Release manager
- Nick is moving on to 7x.2x, so a new release manager is necessary
- This position needs to be established by December in order to hit the next release
- Nick has made his scripts available, but more documentation of actual processes and responsibilities may be necessary
- Perhaps a formal nomination process is required?
- 7.x-2.x Sandbox
- Big thanks to University of Manitoba and Carrell for making this happen! They are sponsoring the Digital Ocean hosting.
- future.islandora.ca (still some bugs to work out with user 1)
- Melissa just concluded a membership drives. Several positive responses, no commitments yet. Big funding goal is to hire a tech lead, and we are getting closer.
- Mark J has started migrating content!
- Nick created a JIRA ticket for Fedora 3.8.1 testing, December last year. With a big helping hand from QADan, it is very nearly complete and may make it into the 7.x-1.6 release. Also, nearly 400,000 objects in York's Islandora
- Jennifer - UConn is now running on HEAD and has a project to bring all sites to HEAD quarterly. Also - DPLA has 80% of their metadata.
- Next meeting:
- Chair: Noah
- Notes: Melissa
