Primary goal: bump jQuery to v3 and Bootstrap without introducing any regressions.
Ideal scenario: Whatever is breaking in jQuery can be replaced by vanillaJS/React. Would be great to get rid of Bootstrap js dependencies too, if the effort makes sense.
