Introduction

SPARQL Query Benchmarker started life purely as a SPARQL over HTTP benchmarking tool. Over time it has evolved into a general purpose API that while designed primarily for testing SPARQL servers (including queries, updates and GSP requests) can in principal be extended to test much more than that.

It supports the testing of both remote SPARQL services and of any database than can be exposed via ARQs query API.

The API is described by javadoc available at http://sparql-query-bm.sourceforge.net/javadoc/ and in the documentation at https://sourceforge.net/p/sparql-query-bm/wiki/

The command line currently comprises the following tools:

  • benchmark - Runs a benchmark i.e. a performance test
  • soak - Runs a soak test i.e. a prolonged load test
  • smoke - Runs a smoke test i.e. a single run of the operation mix to see if anything produces an error
  • stress - Runs a stress test i.e. repeatedly runs an operation mix under progressively higher load (parallel clients) to see if a system exhibits issues under high load
  • operations - Provides command line help with available operations

See the CLI documentation for examples or running the various commands.
