Sampling requirements and approaches to detect ecosystem shifts

Bruel R. and White E.R. (2020)

The code in this repositery allows to reproduce the analyses in our paper, published in 2020 in Ecological Indicators. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1470160X20310359

Study highlights:

  • Environmental monitoring is important, but expensive.
  • The expense of sample analysis may limit which samples can be processed.
  • We use simulation methods and empirical tools to identify shifts in time series indicators.
  • We apply these methods to Cladocera community indicators derived from sediment cores.
  • We show these methods are applicable to a wide array of questions and system
