Confirmed that Sphinx 7.4 is getting picked up in some CIs: only failure is a11y failing to get graphviz installed (which we already knew about). Will open a separate PR to fix that. |

I can add the graphviz bit to the CI as I am working on CI bits as I type this. |

Sphinx 7.4 just came out. One of our CIs tests against sphinx dev, so I don't expect any surprises, but let's just run the CIs to make sure (other ones should pick up the release and test on all platforms). If all is green, we can close this without merging.
