Introduction

The Parallax IDE is a Chrome App for BASIC Stamp development. It is intended to run on Chromebooks, Windows, Macintosh, and Linux computers.

Installation

Chromebook users can install Parallax IDE using the Chrome Web Store Parallax IDE page.

Windows, Macintosh, and Linux users will have to download and install from the Parallax Inc website starting in late 2017. As of 2016, Google began transitioning away from supporting Chrome Apps on every platform other than Chromebooks; however, Parallax has found a "wrapper" solution to enable Parallax IDE to continue to work on those platforms.

Running on Windows and Macintosh

Installations are self-contained; no extra dependencies are required except for the USB drivers required for Parallax development boards. The required USB drivers must be downloaded and run for Windows and Macintosh OSes.

Running on Linux

Most Linux distributions include USB drivers already.

Packaging

For developers, the Developers section has instructions on packaging Parallax IDE for use on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms.
