+of the Holy Inquisition” - this sentence was read out in court by a
+defendant in Munich.
+
+“As punishment, I demand my public burning at the stake in the tradition
+of the Holy Inquisition!” When judge Manfred Sehlke read out this
+sentence, he paused. He looks at the defendant Alexander H. (23), who
+wrote the unbelievable sentence by hand.
+
+He sits motionless with his eyes closed. The young man with the fine
+facial features doesn't want to talk. He is as quiet in court as he was
+in the Stadelheim prison, where he has never exchanged a word with a
+prison officer.
+
+Who is this strange defendant whom the public prosecutor is accusing of
+dealing drugs and theft? In 2008 he graduates with Abitur from school in
+Trostberg. He studies electrical engineering in Munich, but after two
+semesters he gives up everything. He breaks off contact with his parents
+“because they are not interested in his world.”
+
+Alexander H.'s world revolves around drugs. He grows cannabis in an
+apartment he shares with a friend. When the police showed up at his
+house in April 2012, they found 64 hemp plants, but their active
+ingredient content was very low. Also, police found psycho-drugs such as
+LSD and psilocybin mushrooms.

+He is arrested and sentenced to two years in prison for trafficking in
+narcotics. For theft he gets another 22 months – also without parole.
+The public prosecutor is appealing. Now the strange defendant who wrote
+“Rape Me” on his T-shirt is standing before the district court. Does he

+Alexander H. (22) has submitted a written confession in his drug trial:
+"I admit responsibility for all mistakes of my past." Additionally he
+demands to be publicly burned.
+
+Munich - His long dark hair tied back to a ponytail, full beard, and the
+white T-shirt of Alexander H. (22) says "Rape me". Straight up and with
+his eyes closed, he sits on the defendants bench in the Munich court.
+"He meditates", says his lawyer Nicolas Frühsorger.
+
+He doesn't want to talk. His confession in the appeal-process is written
+on a piece of paper that he wordlessly lays on the table of judge
+Manfred Sehlke. The judge reads loud: "I recognize my responsibility for
+all mistakes of the past. In your worldview is no place for me and my
+brothers." He also offers a proposal for his punishment: "As punishment
+I demand my public burning on the funeral pyre in the tradition of the
+Holy Inquisition."

+The Prosecution claims that Alexander H. grew Cannabis in his apartment
+and sold drugs. Additionally he is said to have stolen an Ipod for 419
+Euro, four hard drives for 169 Euro and a computer keyboard for 39,99
+Euro. In October 2012, he was initially given a two year prison
+sentence. His lawyer explains: "My client is homeless, came to court in
+a Rape-me-T-Shirt and demanded execution by burning. This left no room
+open for clemency, because there was no hopeful social prognosis." In
+the appeal process, his lawyer tries to lower the punishment for
+Alexander H., who's been in imprisoned since April 2012.

+The son of a doctor is highly intelligent. After the Abitur \[highest of
+three possible degrees from German primary school\], he serves his civil
+service, then he studies electrical engineering at the technical
+university in Munich. He keeps studying until the 5. semester. He feels
+unchallenged. He says to his psychiatric assessor: it was all too
+"superficially presented" and the professors are just "idiotic
+babblers", he does not want to hear them any longer.

+listening to a lot of music and smoking thick joints. He accuses his
