LKDE is exploration, research, education and general improvements project. The main goal is to make stable, consistent UI good looking desktop system on basis of KDE. This involves hard participation and coding in upstream projects. In fact, there is no need to fork until some special requirements will occur. So, basically these pages are more about exploration and participation of small group of people focused on particular tasks.

LKDE stands for 'Lightweight KDE'. The initial attention was to drop overbloating services to improve performance, but since KDE has already achieved good performance results this goal is now deactualized. The lightness, though, is still one of our priorities as well as keeping eye on KLyDE which has some achievements in this direction.

Current objectives:

  1. establish collaborative environment
  2. fix bugs! KDE has a lots of bugs!
  3. merge missing features from KDE3
  4. general UI polishing
  5. merge KLyDE
  6. merge back to KDE4

Experienced hackers who lack KDE3 features and know that Trinity project is wrong are welcome!
