We keep getting questions about this (e.g., #53). Let's address it directly in a FAQ.

No. It's a new license in that case and you'll have to pick a different name for it.

Can we also add something like:

If possible, use Business Source License rather than creating a new FSL-inspired one. FSL is meant to simplify over BSL. Creating new variants of it does the opposite. Evaluate BSL first and if that doesn’t work then one of the other fair source licenses. Only create a new license if none of those suit your needs.

Either as a new paragraph to the same answer or to a new question:

I like neither MIT or Apache 2, should I create my own FSL variant?
