The GTK+Android Project is dual-licensed under Apache 2.0 and MIT terms.

Longer version:

The GTK+Android Project is copyright 2014, The GTK+Android Project Developers (given in the file AUTHORS.txt).

Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 or the MIT license, at your option. All files in the project carrying such notice may not be copied, modified, or distributed except according to those terms.


The GTK+Android Project is based on packages written by third parties. The following third party packages are included, and carry their own copyright notices and license terms:

  • GTK+, GLib, Pango, GDK-Pixbuf, ATK and their sub-packages. All of them are licensed under LGPL 2.0 terms. Please see http://www.gnome.org/ for more details.

  • Cairo and Pixman libraries belong to http://cairographics.org/ and licensed under LGPL 2.1 or MPL 1.1 licenses both.

  • LibFFI belongs to Red Hat, Inc and others. It is placed to Public Domain. Please see the sources for the details.

  • FontConfig belongs to many contributors It is placed to Public Domain. Please see the sources for the details.

  • FreeType belongs to many contributors and licensed under BSD-like or GPL 2.0 licenses at your choice

  • harfbuzz belongs to many contributors It is licensed under "Old MIT" license#
