4. Combining EDGAR HTAP and SAFAR emission datasets

Scripts for merging EDGAR-HTAP and SAFAR data are provided here: https://github.com/douglowe/PROMOTE-emissions/tree/master/anthro_emiss_scripts/Combining_SAFAR_EDGAR_HTAP.

The main script is copy_SAFAR_and_merge_EDGAR_emissions.sh, this will modify and run the NCL script merge_emissions_template.ncl. Before running this script you should ensure that the SRCDIR and EDGARDIR variables point to the correct SAFAR and EDGAR-HTAP emission directories.

These scripts will only process domain 4; for domains 1-3 EDGAR-HTAP data only will be used for generating emissions. For emission variables which are not provided by SAFAR then EDGAR-HTAP data will be used for the whole domain, likewise for emission variables which are not provided by EDGAR-HTAP then only SAFAR data will be used. For emission variables provided by both, EDGAR-HTAP data is replaced by the SAFAR data within the SAFAR region - at the edges of this region a fractional contribution of each will be calculated.
