Faster Searching

This flask server uses the Google Image API and DuckDuckGo to search for whatever search term you put at the end of the url, and redirects directly to the first result. it can also search for a load more stuff, see below

ie if you wanted to search for 'mgs salute' you would use "http://giveme.one/mgs-salute" and it would resolve directly to the first image, like so

UPDATE: I have added a hybrid fallback system, so if I run out of my limited API key uses, it will search DuckDuckGo instead

GiveMeOne

You can also use "http://giveme.one/ddg/search-terms-here" to search DuckDuckGo images only. You can also use /yt/ to search YouTube.

Stuff you can search for...

/wiki/ - Search Wikipedia

/arch/ - Search the ArchWiki

/urban/ - Search the UrbanDictionary

/dict/ - Search the normal dictionary

/scp/ - Link directly to SCP articles ( I will make an embed for this later )

/ddg/ - DuckDuckGo's image search

/yt/ - Youtube videos

and soon many more...

Config

A config.json file will be generated on first use, you will need to fill this out.

API

api_key: This is where your google images API key goes

dictionary: This is where your Merriam-Webster Dictionary API key goes

Config

engine: (google, ddg, hybrid) This determines what search engine to use, or if it should use google at first, and then fall back onto DuckDuckGo if that fails

database: Link to your mongoDB link cache database if you use this method for link caching

link_cache: (db, json) This determines if you would like to use a local json file for the link cache, or use a mongoDB database. (json is in a WIP state.)

notes:

Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to reliably host this myself, as the fees for using the API are far too much for me to afford right now, ($5 per 1k calls, and if it reaches the level of use as twitfix has, it would cost me over $150 a month, and as a person with no income, that doesn't really work)

I am making this open source and licensing it under the WTFPL, so if anyone else would like to run this, please feel free to do so, and let me know too.

Thanks to @deepanprabhu for their implementation of the DuckDuckGo api, which I adapted for use in this project
