MOS diode

A MOS diode is a mosfet with the gate and drain connected.
Generally, the source and bulk are also connected, but this is not required.
The mosfet connected in this manner has Vgs = Vds.
For NMOS, the maximum drain voltage is expected to be Vs+Vthn.
For PMOS, the minimum drain voltage is expected to be Vs+Vthp.

As minimum voltages are propagated through NMOS diodes, the maximum drain voltage is also examined.
As maximum voltages are propagated through PMOS diodes, the minimum drain voltage is also examined.
If the drain voltage is unknown, the drain voltage is set to the expected value listed above.
If the drain voltage has previously been set, the value is compared to the expected value and an error is generated for mismatches.

Resolution

Examine the circuit to determine the true minimum/maximum voltage.
If the propagated voltage is correct, flag the error as a false error.
If the propagated voltage is incorrect, add the correct minimum or maximum voltage to the power setup.

Common causes

  • MOS diodes in series with MOS switches. (add minimum/maximum definition)
  • Undefined power. (define the power)
  • Incorrect minimum/maximum level propagated. (set correct minimum/maximum power level)
