When you use @ClockBot (either with an inline query or by sending a command), the bot receives the following information from your Telegram profile:

  • Your name (first and last parts)
  • Your username (if you have one set)
  • Your Telegram ID (which is NOT your phone number nor can be obtained from it)
  • Your language code (usually language and country identification, eg. en-US)

ClockBot uses your language code information to perform the time searches in your language and return results in it too. Also, when you perform a search without specifying anything to search for, your language code is used to return the most relevant results from it, which usually means your country times.

The language code ClockBot receives usually corresponds to the language and regional configuration you have set either on the Telegram app or (more normally) on your operating system.

Also, depending on your interaction with ClockBot, the following information is received, for obvious reasons:

  • For private messages with the ClockBot (eg. commands), the full message is received.
  • For inline queries, the full query is received.

Finally, if you add ClockBot to a group, the following information is received from it:

  • Members who join or are invited
  • Members who left or are kicked
  • Group information changes (title, photo, etc.)
  • Messages that reply ClockBot or contain commands directed to ClockBot (other messages are not received unless ClockBot is given admin permissions on the group)
  • Other information we are not aware of may be received

All the previous information is stored when received during normal operation. This information will be used to analyze ClockBot abuse or attack attempts. It may also be used to get anonymous information on how the bot is used, to detect bugs, improve the user experience with the bot and center development efforts on what really matters.

This received information will never be sold nor shared with anyone other than the ClockBot core development team for the purposes described above. If you want your data to be sent to you and/or be removed completely from our side, please contact us on the support group.

Thanks for using @ClockBot.
