Experience virtual reality in Kerbal Space Program 1.9.1

This is a pre-release version of the KerbalVR reboot. I've rewritten the mod completely
from the ground up, to address issues with the very basics: performance and stability in VR.

Because everything is being re-written, there is a regression in features compared to previous versions, until I can get around to implementing them. Hence why it is a pre-release. In its current state, VR is NOT compatible with KVR-Pods.

RPM should be supported in this release. Use the InteractClick input binding to "click" on RPM buttons. Please note that using RPM incurs an FPS performance hit.

  • Seated-mode VR in IVA mode. Use your VR devices to control the craft.
  • VR in EVA mode, with basic teleportation for locomotion.
  • Room-scale VR in the VAB / SPH editor.
  • VR anywhere and everywhere in the game. The only drawback is not being able to interact with the UI whilst in VR.

Changes

  • Added blue hand rails to the Mk1-3 cockpit cabin, which can be grabbed with VR controllers as a mechanism for locomotion within IVA
  • Added "mouse click" functionality within VR, so that when using the RPM mod, you can "click" RPM buttons to interact with the cockpit
  • Fixed a bug with the camera going bonkers when switching the camera mode from IVA to Flight mode
  • Fixed a bug where the environment would flicker when the Graphics Render Quality setting was set high
  • Fixed a bug where teleportation was mistakenly allowed inside IVA

  • Fixed a crash that would occur during certain scene changes
  • Implemented a teleportation mechanism, for use during EVA
  • Added a toggle to override throttle control with VR controllers

Changes

  • Fixed random crashes by re-writing the VR camera rendering mechanism
  • Improved FPS by leveraging Direct3D11 multi-threaded rendering
  • Added VR to every scene (I think). Turn on VR either through the app toolbar, or simply putting on your headset in any scene (flight, IVA, EVA, VAB, SPH, Tracking Station, Space Center, etc.)
  • Changed glove models to SteamVR's models, so I can re-distribute it freely in the codebase
  • Use SteamVR bindings to easily adapt the controls to any VR device

Changes

  • Fixed a bug where objects in the sky would noticeably lag behind the first-person view camera, especially during rapid head movements. This includes the skybox itself, celestial objects, and planets' atmospheric effects.

  • Re-compile against KSP 1.9.1 and all the 5,000 new Unity libraries, since Unity decided to split everything into as many tiny DLL's as possible
  • Performance still sucks, I don't think that's ever going to change
