We are super excited to introduce to you a new series, "The R Markdown Bible: Everything you need to know to master R Markdown". The amazing Selcan Aydin will present the first session in this series.
The workshop " Many faces of R Markdown: An introduction" by Selcan Aydin will introduce the magic of R Markdown, its various applications and help you master it from the ground up. This workshop is suitable for beginners of both R and R Markdown, but there will be plenty of handy tricks for more advanced users.
Our speaker, Selcan Aydin was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. Graduated from Sabanci University with a Biological Sciences and Bioengineering major and a Mathematical Sciences minor in 2009. Then, she moved to Heidelberg, Germany, to get her master's degree in Systems Biology and graduated in 2011. Concurrently she received the prestigious Fulbright Ph.D. Award and got accepted at Duke University Biology Ph.D. program. She worked with Drs. Nicolas Buchler and Paul Magwene at Duke, studying the impacts of genetic variation on cellular phenotypes in budding yeast, graduated in 2017. Currently, she works with Dr. Steve Munger as a postdoctoral associate at The Jackson Laboratory. Her research interests include quantitative genetics, systems biology, and cell signalling. Her current research plans focus on defining the role of genetic variation in cell fate decisions with an emphasis on embryonic stem cells and mouse development. In addition to science, She is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and science outreach. To reach out to novice learners, she got certified as a Software Carpentry and RStudio instructor. Outside of the lab, she enjoys time with her puppy Darwin and the outdoors by hiking, snowshoeing, and gardening!
