We need to ensure data safety / integrity for regovar-server, which requires:

proper checksumming of important data;
storage redundancy (at least RAID 5);
a reliable on-site and off-site backup strategy (with multiple encrypted read-only copies).

Backups must be encrypted; encryption of local data is to be evaluated: if too expensive, we've to ensure the physical safety of data by other means.
