Virtual Display Driver Control
The app is where you can control all your displays from.
When opening up the app for the first time, you will see a main window like this.
At the very top you see the "enabled" toggle switch. This allows you to globally enable/disable all monitors quickly.
On the first start there will be no monitors in the list. You can click the "+" button to add a new one.
Lastly is the save button. This saves the current configuration for the app and driver. You do not need to click this as all settings are auto saved when you close the app, but you can if you want.
After clicking "+" and adding the monitor, you will see this displayed. It is yellow with a warning symbol because the monitor isn't configured yet. You can also click the red "-" button to delete the monitor. Warning: If the monitor was enabled on the system, then deleting it will disconnect it.
Click on the row of any monitor to open the resolution settings window
You can change the name of the monitor to make it easier to know which one is which. the "+" button opens a window to add a new resolution.
Once you've added a resolution, you will see this. Anything with a * before it is a pending change and will NOT persist to your config. If you want it to persist, press "save". If you want to clear all your pending changes, click "clear". Click the red "-" button next to refresh rate or resolution in order to delete the respective row. At the bottom of the refresh rate dropdown menu, you can add a new refresh rate in the box and clicking the "+" button.
Whenever you change resolution or refresh rates, it WILL NOT be immediately reflected in Windows yet. To do that, you need to head to the main settings window and disable and re-enable the monitor. If this is the first time setting it up, you only need to enable the monitor.
If you delete all refresh rates and resolutions, your monitor has nothing to display anymore and will disconnect.
Type in your desired resolution and refresh rate, then click "+" button to add it to the list
- All settings made in the app are persisted for the app and driver config
Disabling/enabling monitors:
- In the main window, click the switch at the top to disable all monitors, or the switch beside an individual monitor to disable only that one
- You can do the same thing to re-enable any
Configuring:
- Give your monitor a name (if you want)
- After clicking the "+" button to add a new monitor, click on the row to open the settings.
- You can also click the red "-" to delete a monitor
- Click the "+" button at the bottom to add an initial resolution/refresh rate. You can add more refresh rates for that particular resolution in the main monitor settings window refresh rate dropdown
- Press SAVE when you are done. Any entry with
*before it will NOT be saved. - If you don't want to save, press the "Clear" button, and all your pending changes will be cleared
- You can press the red "-" button next to a resolution or refresh rate to delete those specifically. Warning!! If you delete all monitor modes, the monitor will be disconnected from the system
- If you add any resolutions/refresh rates and press save, the monitor changes will NOT show up on your system initially. If you just setup your monitor for the first time, enable the monitor in the main window. If you configured an existing monitor, you NEED to disable and re-enable the monitor manually for it to update.
The save button in the main window forcefully saves any changes. You DO NOT need to press this to make your settings get saved. Settings are automatically saved when the application is closed.
Go to your windows settings for displays, and edit it there just like you would any other monitor 😃
