OmniMIDI's Wiki

Welcome to the OmniMIDI wiki. OmniMIDI is a MIDI driver for professional use.

Here you will find troubleshooting for the driver. Below are the common problems users have, along with a simple solution to them. There are also detailed solutions to the problems linked below in their own respective troubleshooting pages.

Issues and respective fixes

If the configurator doesn't open, or the values are blank:

SOLUTION: Reset the synth's registry key and reinstall the driver
DETAILED SOLUTION: OmniMIDI is not working


If the audio clips on Windows 10 anniversary edition (audio cuts out):

SOLUTION: Upgrade to either the Windows 10 Creators Update or Windows 10 RTM; or install LoudMax to limit the audio.
DETAILED SOLUTION: OmniMIDI is clipping on Windows 10 Anniversary


If the driver doesn't appear in the MIDI devices list:

SOLUTION: Re-register the driver through the configurator, or reinstall the driver.
DETAILED SOLUTION: OmniMIDI disappeared from the MIDI Out list


If the MIDI audio jumps or stutters, ruining playback:

SOLUTION: Solutions vary based on engine used (XAudio2, DirectSound, ASIO, WASAPI). See detailed solution.
DETAILED SOLUTION: OmniMIDI is stuttering


Other applications are crashing because of OmniMIDI (apps that use OmniMIDI by default crash)

SOLUTION: Check if the EV buffer size is set to a stable value or reinstall OmniMIDI
DETAILED SOLUTION: OmniMIDI makes apps crash


If the audio from the synthesizer sounds flat or unappealing

SOLUTION: Tweak the reverb and chorus to your liking
DETAILED SOLUTION: OmniMIDI audio sounds flat
