Pawnhub Chess

Jiganesh Patil edited this page Sep 17, 2023 · 1 revision

Pawnhub chess is a chess variant of standard FIDE chess, except the capturing piece turns into a pawn piece in place of captured piece. When a piece captures a rival piece, the capturing piece is demoted to a pawn. This means that the capturing piece loses all special movement abilities and can only move forward one square at a time (or two squares on its first move), and capture diagonally forward. It was created by Jiganesh Patil in 2023 [when?] . Background

The game was conceptualized in 2023[when?] by Jiganesh Patil as a "real-time" version of chess. The name was put to be Pawnhub chess to reflect that the bunch of pieces on the board are turned into pawns. The PVP version of game was published by him for other chess enthusiasts to play and improve the game.

Setup

The game is played on a standard 8x8 chessboard with the pieces set up as follows:

White pieces:
    King on e1
    Queen on d1
    Rooks on a1 and h1
    Bishops on c1 and f1
    Knights on b1 and g1
    Pawns on a2, b2, c2, d2, e2, f2, g2, and h2
Black pieces:
    King on e8
    Queen on d8
    Rooks on a8 and h8
    Bishops on c8 and f8
    Knights on b8 and g8
    Pawns on a7, b7, c7, d7, e7, f7, g7, and h7

Gameplay

Pawnhub is a more aggressive chess variant than standard chess, due to the fact that pieces are demoted for capturing. This means that players must be careful not to overextend themselves and leave their pieces vulnerable to capture.

One important strategy in Pawnhub is to try to capture the opponent's pieces with your pawns. This will give you more pawns on the board, which can be used to promote to more powerful pieces or to create pawn chains.

Another important strategy is to use your pieces to protect your pawns. If you can keep your pawns from being captured, you will eventually be able to promote them to more powerful pieces and win the game.
