This is the code for a Cables.gl operator that enables users to live-code Faust programs in their Cables patches.
It is currently a work in progress, with a final release planned at the end of Google Summer of Code 2024.
If you'd like to build your own Cables operator from this code, first create a tree-shaken version of the
faustwasm library by running npm run build.
Then place the contents of main.js in a custom Cables operator, and the contents
of porthandler.js and dist/index.js into Cables attachments named
porthandler and faustwasm respectively.
From there, you may write Faust programs in the operator's string editor, and input ports for each Faust parameter will be generated. Faust button and checkbox parameters correspond to Cables' trigger ports, audio to object ports, everything else to number ports. The port's names will mirror your Faust parameters, simply attach other Cables operators to control them.
Faust's standard library includes a soundfile primitive which can be used to load audio files. Documentation can be found here.
In the case of this Cables operator, a soundfile will be fetched when the Faust script is compiled. There is one caveat: soundfile paths must be written in whole where they are used.
For example, this syntax will not compile:

file = soundfile("https://foo.com/bar/baz.wav;", 2);Polyphonic mode uses MIDI by default, and expects a frequency(freq or key) and gate(gate) parameter to be present in your script.
