Help with shadows on Mate

Hello! I've been looking through the documentation of Picom for a while and cannot figure out how to give the panel a shadow without it overlapping onto my windows, I've tried putting windows into the "clip-shadows-above" section. And while this works, it also makes shadows stop rendering with other windows while overlapping. I don't know if I've missed something clearly explained, but I would really appreciate help on this.
