New board members and directors should have a clear understanding of what information they need to fulfill their role. At the same time, board members who are off-boarding should be aware of the process to off-board their role -- for closure and for the transition of projects/duties/knowledge transfer.

Describe the solution you'd like
Would be good to have a guide/charter for newly elected board members and those who are retiring/off boarding/[insert leave reason here].

This guide would cover the following questions:

  • role description and expectations
  • access to:
    • what mailing lists do they need to join? if any?
    • Slack/Discord role updates
    • Discourse access (when this is available)
    • GitHub/GitBook for documentation, project management
  • standing meetings

How should they get introduced to the committee/board and community-at-large?

  • should they just show up at the next meeting?
  • should they prepare anything (bio for press/social media
  • docs to read/policies to become familiar with?)
