ubuntu 20.04 randomly freezes on apple silicon M2.

Hi ! First of all I want to thank developers of utm. The virtualisation is flawless and almost feel like bare metal performance.

I am facing one issue with the usage. My ubuntu vm randomly freezes and get stuck infinitely[4-7 times a day]. The only recovery option is to reboot the vm. please be advised that macOS and utm application runs fine and is operable when this issue occurs. The freeze only within the VM window.

This is my environment.
MAC OS: Ventura
Architecture : ARM64
Machine: QEMU7.2 ARM
VM OS : ubuntu 20.04
GPU acceleration enabled with virtio-ramfb-gl

please advice and how to solve this freezing issue.

I got this problem too. Someone says that we should disable gpu acceleration.

Might fix it for others, but it didn't for me. I'm pretty sure I tried every gfx settings. I also tried ubuntu 22, and ubuntu 23, but those two also froze. After installing Fedora 39 I haven't had a freeze.

Firefox is very unstable on fedora 39 though, often eating all memory causing the VM to halt, so I'm using brave browser instead.

For me it freezes only display (I'm sshed with vscode & serial also works) and I have to restart it.

I've tried all sorts of configurations of display cards and each freezes after some time, I also tried older QEMU versions, but they freeze as well.
