Using meta commands like .inspect outside steampipe interactive shell

Hi,

Greetings to all,

I've started this discussion to get ideas on using the steampipe meta commands like .inspect via a python script. Since after entering steampipe query it takes us to the steampipe interactive shell, commands like .inspect need to be manually typed. I was searching for a way to automate this process as I have to run this command for multiple resources.

Agreed, being able to run .inspect outside the interactive shell would also allow for the use of tools like grep

The .inspect commands actually just use Postgres queries under the hood, because they are doing introspection on the schemas and tables as setup per the config.

Perhaps you can just use those queries instead on the command line?

e.g. from the source -
