Proposal

If the smi-spec/#151 proposal is accepted, we should support UDP in ACL mode by implementing the UDPRoute traffic spec. If not, we could probably support it by providing a custom CRD.

Background

For now, the udp traffic type does not work when ACL mode is enabled. In ACL mode, all traffic is forbidden unless it is explicitly allowed with a TrafficTarget. Unfortunately, the SMI specification does not define a TrafficSpec for UDP.
