Footnotes with only one newline?

I've got lots of Markdown like this:

Isn't this interesting[^int] to the reader?
[^int]: It was not!

The sample footnote code at https://commonmark.thephpleague.com/2.5/extensions/footnotes/ doesn't render that as a footnote. It does when there are two or more \n before the [^definition]:

Is there a way to configure the footnote extension to recognise only a single newline?

The Markdown Extra documentation says:

Footnote definitions can be found anywhere in the document

And I notice that other Markdown Extra processors allow only a single newline.

If I edit vendor/league/commonmark/src/Parser/Block/ParagraphParser.php so that canHaveLazyContinuationLines() returns false, it works.

Is there a way I can set that in a config rather than manually editing the code?
