Currently, we store the data files needed by Soil ID (shapefiles, munsell CSV, etc.) in a public Google Drive. We should determine what method would be most suitable for a dependency for an open source project.
GitHub doesn't make sense, since some of the files are 500+MB. Even with Git LFS, this isn't a good solution since you will surpass the GitHub quota quickly.
On the production/staging servers, we are storing the files in /var/data and setting the DATA_PATH environment variable to /var/data so soil id knows where to find them.
