Determine whether we need the advanced search gem or the functionality included in Blacklight. PO will specify advanced search requirements.

@corylown can you be more specific about what you are looking for with regard to features? Advanced search was merged into blacklight core if I recall correctly. projectblacklight/blacklight#2363

We will check in with archivists at the mid-workcycle check-in.

There's some weird things that seem like little bugs:

  • Can't click on start over
  • Can't select anything that's in "more" for any of the attribute facets
  • Dates in the date range list are out of order
  • There's no highlighting if a keyword is included
  • I'm not sure the results are really even accurate?

In this example I used advanced search to find everything with the keyword dog, in 1976, with the place California. I don't think the results match what I searched for.

We might have more configuration to do to make this work: projectblacklight/blacklight#3042

It isn't clear to me that this is a priority for archivists or that we need to configure it to work. Let's leave it open for when we have a production-driven work cycle in 2025.

We should remove the link from the landing page.
