Windows 11 taskbar context menu problem

It seems Windows 11 removed the taskbar context menu. How can I enable EverythingToolbar without the context menu?

Install StartAllBack and you have the required functions back.

Do you know of any free alternatives? Or something more lightweight, only adding the taskbar context menu? I tried editing registries to enable it but wasn't successful

The context menu is not enough !
The Windows 11 task bar no longer supports Deskband objects.
You can use the actual version 0.8.0.0 of the Everything toolbar which is targeted to Windows 11.
But I like to enter the search text directly into a field in the task bar.

There are two ways to use EverythingToolbar with the latest beta version of 0.8.0:

Deskband version (made for Windows 10)

This behaves just like the deskband on Windows 10 but it requires you to install additional tools like StartAllBack or ExplorerPatcher which drastically change the behaviour of the Windows 11 taskbar since they aim to replicate previous versions of Windows' taskbar. After installing those tools you can enable the toolbar in Windows 11 just like in Windows 10.

Taskbar icon launcher (made for Windows 11)

This is the newer implementation specifically made for Windows 11 that doesn't require you to install any additional tools. Due to the new limitations of the Windows 11 taskbar it is not possible anymore to activate deskbands so this version consists of just a taskbar shortcut that triggers the search popup. After installing a setup assistant window should have opened automatically that guides you through the setup process of that. If that is not the case for you, just start EverythingToolbar via the Windows start menu and right click the system tray icon to open the setup assistant:

This will then guide you through the setup process:

Afterwards the search popup will get opened and closed by clicking the taskbar icon similar to the original Windows 11 search.

I have ExplorerPatcher installed, but it's not clear to me how to use that as a way to get EverythingToolbar running. Any hints?

Is Windows 11 even SUPPORTED?!? I just installed ET, went through the "setup assistant", checked the SAME boxes as above, and REBOOTED as suggested by the app, and still NO TOOLBAR. 🤔

After further reviewing the GitHub landing page, and seeing not a single reference to Windows 11, AND seeing as how the demo GIF still shows Windows 10, I HAVE to assume NOT.

I look forward to Windows 11 support. This used to be a GREAT app!

Whatever you are doiing Windows 11 is supported by the Toolbat and runs fine here.
You can have it as an Icon or even within the task bar if you have StartAllBack or ExplorerPatcher installed.

Windows 11 is supported since 0.8.0-beta1, however (since it's still a beta) there are some things that need to be improved further. My answer to this discussion explains how to use EverythingToolbar in Windows 11. Please read it again carefully. You seem to be interested in the taskbar launcher icon, so please follow the instructions again and describe in detail at which point your experience deviates from the expected/described behavior so we can figure out why it's not working for you.
