Hi there, my name is Franz 👋
I am a software and hardware developer with a Master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from TU Munich. I'm living in Austria and working full time at Leica Geosystems on algorithms for 3D laser scanners.
Beside my passion for computer vision I'm excited about robotics and open source. I love to learn and share my knowledge, which is why I contribute to open source projects such as ROS 🌱 With ROS 1 noetic I've built an autonomous differential drive mobile robot. The source code is documented and freely available on GitHub. I put in the effort to help ROS newcomers with this project and to save them the struggle I went through. The latest documentation about this project can be found at the official website: https://ros-mobile-robots.com. You can see a demo of simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and autonomous navigation in the video below:
Additionally, the project provides a modular CAD robot frame that can be 3D printed. You can see an assembly video below and the STL files for 3D printing are available in the remo_description
repository.
Previously, I worked at Oculytics GmbH on developing and deploying AI-based machine vision solutions to different industries (food, logistics, ...). For this I use my experience with traditional and deep learning computer vision approaches. 🔭 I also worked three years at EFS GmbH, a subsidiary of AUDI AG, to develop trajectory planning algorithms for autonomous vehicles.
All my projects that I am working on are documented on my personal website, which includes a blog.
If you enjoy the work I create please consider supporting me for keeping the website and documentation updated, maintaining current projects and creating new ones.
