Dr. Data Ng is an experimental Physicist at HKU. He is a maker and biohacker. As an advocate for digital fabrication and Biohacking, Data founded Printact to promote 3D Printing to the public. In 2016, he founded a biotech startup - 42Lab which is a first portable biotech laboratory for STEM education in Asia which is incubated and funded by Entrepreneur First, SGinnovate in Singapore and Cyberport in Hong Kong.
Data is active in the entrepreneurship community and hosted several entrepreneurship events, including Startup Weekends and AngelHack.
His projects, ranging from biotech equipment to automated cocktail machine, won and featured in many competitions and hackathons such as Alibaba Jumpstarter, HackTrain@MTR, National Challenge Cup, and HKSTP Elevator Pitch Competition.
He was invited to share his start-up experience at the HKU, CityU, Fudan University, TEDxCUHK, Cyberport, Qianhai Shen Zhen, UKTI and HKFYG.
Data was the HKU court member and HKU convocation standing committee member. He was also appointed as School Manager of Yan Chai Hospital No.2 Secondary School. As he was a licensed radiation worker, he plays with radioactive substance in his leisure time.
Data got his Ph.D in Physics and his BSc. (double majors in Physics and Finance and minor in Astronomy) at the University of Hong Kong.
