Hi there!
I'm Daniel Breen! I'm a Software Engineer working in Boise, ID, and a CS student at WGU.
We recently began mob programming at work, which is great. Unfortunately, it comes with its challenges when most of the team is working remotely. In our case, the biggest challenge was mobsters going over their time limit, throwing off the rotation, and cutting into our valuable "drive" time.
After enough frustrations, I decided to fix the problem by creating an online mob timer using web sockets and desktop notifications. This way, everyone with the team link always knows how much time is on the clock for the current user and everyone gets a notification when it's time to rotate. No more pointing fingers or yelling, "you've been driving for the last hour!" Everyone's happy!... except the time hog. Eh. They'll get over it. :)
To be completely transparent, my biggest motivation was to help pay for school. Fortunately, WGU isn't the most expensive. It's around $3,750 per term (6 months). Your sponsorship will help me pay for my final term, as well as cover the monthly costs of hosting the web app. With enough support, I can also spend more time on new features and upgrading services for a faster application.
