Create HowTo for generating recognizable metrics out of application code

I want to be able to alter an application that is running on a WAS, so that it is creating a recognizable entry in the log file that can be found again in the RMA. This would be helpful for finding the exact part of the application code where a performance problem persists.

Maybe a helper class would also be convenient.
