In my case btsdu has been killed because it took more than 16GB of RAM and 8GB of SWAP.

I compared freshly installed home directory 117MB with current state of it 112GB.

That is unfortunate. I've tested it now with my homedir, where i get few MiBs of RAM usage with a 7 GiB snapshots size... The RAM usage should depend mostly on number of files (unless there is a bug). Could you estimate how many files do you have in the home directory? (e.g. using find -xdev). I have about 642726.
