I got a question from @BSchilperoort about why the contributors list for software in the RSD is different from the information in Zenodo. He didn't realize that the import of contributors was a manual action.
Maybe we should explore the possibility to update the contributor list automatically when a new version of the software is released? In theory, adding new contributors shouldn't be an issue (especially if an ORCID is provided). Updating existing contributors or remove them may be harder though, as we tend to have more information than Zenodo.

Update software contributors automatically?

I would think that removing contributors automatically would not be a desired behavior. Updating existing contributors also less so.
It's mostly about adding new contributors that are not in the RSD yet, and check the ORCID if available, otherwise the family-names + given names.
The direct reason for this is https://github.com/xarray-contrib/xarray-regrid/ where we have started to get external contributors to the project, which I have added to the CITATION.cff. Zenodo is not updated yet, because the GitHub -> Zenodo integration keeps breaking all the time.
