When connecting a non-Dutch organization (like UHasselt, Turing Way) we often get the question if organization maintainers can manage their own ORCID users. Going though us for every new user is a bit of a hassle.

I see three potential solutions to this:

  • indeed allow any ORG maintainer to add users by ORCID (how to handle duplicates? deletions? etc.)
  • use something like eduGAIN for international ORGs?
  • make it easier to connect individual organizations using whatever identity provider they user (like azure?)

What would be the pro's and con's of each option?
