New Page Modal Fails Check With Existing Pages

I've noticed when trying to assist with #1292 that in the new page modal, the checking for if the page already exists doesn't work as expected. What happens, though, is that if I create a page with the exact same path it opens up the editor for that page.

I wanted to bring this up, but I'll try to resolve it if I can.
