There are occassions that i havent found the trigger for yet, where you end up with "two" webInterfaces devices in the database and therefore two webInterface icons in my home. One that shows "connected" and the other that shows a "broken heart"

The one thats not connected doesn't appear to conflict with anything and "doesn't" show in syslog as a "device is offline and trying to connect" as far as i can tell

deleting the offline webinterface via my home fixes the double up obviously but guessing it shouldn't double up in the first place.

Which also makes me think on a side note..... should Alice give a warning if "any" device shares the same display name as a existing device ?

not sure what you mean by display name?
But whenever you clear your browser storage e.g. cookies, you will have a new webInterface device

Just a passing thought i had, when i get two webinterface devices i then have two devices named the same thing displayName = webInterface.

With that in mind, can i accidently add two devices with the displayName of "kitchen lights" for example ? and therefore when i say turn off the kitchen lights, alice turns off two devices ? I havent tried that was just a thought based on the webinterface double up. But If that's the case then perhaps it would be best to have alice deny adding a device if there's already a device with that name existing, to prevent clashing with existing devices.

As far as browser cookies go i don't clear them unless i have a setting somewhere i don't know about. Will investigate

with display name demoted to a device config value, yes, I guess that might possible. Good thought - needs some prevention. IF you want to toggle two devices via one command, there should be device groups somewhere on my todo list ;)
