I have couple copies of osu lazer and i have backuping my game with this same way since i downloaded lazer. everytime all i had to do was to just choose the osu lazer folder after formatting my computer and everything would come back. now it doesnt? it says selected folder already has files

Sorry for the lack of explanation on my part as i was slightly angry at this matter.

Which files did you back up? every file. i use "change osu folder" option in the game settings to make copies of the game which worked very well without issues until last patch.
How are you trying to restore from backup? like i mentioned i restore them after installing osu! lazer fresh and choosing the "change osu folder" option to point it to a file that was created before. until now i always got the popup asking "this folder already has osu! lazer content. want me to use that instead?" or something along the lines of this and i never had a problem.
What is happening precisely when you're trying to restore from backup? Please attach a video or a screenshot.

So I take it your backup is on E:\? How do the files look there? Can you attach a screenshot of the folder structure?

I'm very confused by everything here.

First log in the zip you attached:

suggests the game was already using E:\. Then you... migrated to the same folder for whatever reason?

Also you appear to be running a version that is months out of date:

Can you explain any of this? And describe what you did precisely start to end? I feel like there's a decent chunk of the story missing here.

oh i added the wrong logs maybe. i was frustrated so i was trying to run the game from backups itself. first osu installs into local directory so i change it as (my) usual normally?
then i try it again to get the error i mentioned.
i just checked now (this is new. wasnt present when error occured) that my "files" folder is too empty for a ~2000 map backup right now.
so i will have to abort this no matter what :( thank you for your help. i will just use the stable version to go back to my 17 month old songs folder backup~~
i hope in the near future osu! lazer will also provide this freedom about songs folder.
