When spectating multiple players at once, the audio source is selected based on the user with the smallest delay compared to the audio track. I think it would be nice if spectators were able to select which player's audio they listen to. For example, clicking on a player's playfield should switch the spectator's audio to the selected player's audio on top of expanding the playback window.
Addendum:
I realize I didn't clarify what I think the problem is with the current implementation.
I think current behavior is a major deviation from the spectator's expectation for what sound they should be hearing. For example, the most skilled player in a lobby is often not the spectator audio source. In lobbies with relatively equal skill among participants, this tends to not be an issue, but in lobbies with higher skill disparity, spectators are often left in a situation where they are watching video of a high accuracy play with audio from a very low accuracy play. This can lead to a jarring experience where the spectator's audio is completely disconnected from what they are seeing.
While I would love a system where the audio is automatically selected based on which player is expected to give spectators the most consistent viewing experience, I recognize that this might not be feasible, as was concluded in the previously mentioned post.
At the very least, I don't think giving users more choice in their spectating experience is a bad idea.
