In June 2024, we presented echinopscis at the Systematics Association biennial held at Reading University in the UK. One of the workflows we showed was about using a large language model (or AI "co-pilot") to help reformat semi-structured text data to a data standard - eg processing a "specimens examined" paragraph to a Darwin Core format specimen table.
One proposal from Rod Page after the talk was to explore if this model could be used to process semi-structured data that exists in the Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL) - inspired by the work of Anton Savchenko who has produced an Obsidian version of Taxonomic Literature 2 This thread is to capture BHL works that might benefit from this approach.
