yea its possible to detach a fork. To do this, you need to turn the fork into a standalone repository. Follow these steps: first you clone the existing repo:
now we have to remove the Remote Origin:
Create a New Repository: now we add a New Remote:
now you can push:
the fork is now an independent repo. The GitHub UI will no longer say that it's a fork. The stars that were associated with the original fork will remain with the new standalone repository. |

Is it possible to detach the fork and maintain the stars?
I have this project: jcubic/expression.php, and I plan to delete all the code and replace a handwritten parser that is hard to modify with a parser generator. At the same time, keeping the API the same. It will no longer be a fork only unique code I've written.
So the question can I remove the information that it's a fork from the GitHub interface?
